ZOU XOU GUIDE TO: BEACH-TO-TOWN STYLE, Part 1

I can’t think of many things more carefree than spending a holiday by the beach. To unplug, twist my hair up, wear very little clothing and spend a few days of doing only what I want and when I feel like it… is divine. This year M and I joined some friends in Italy to take in the beauty of Puglia and Sorrento. Of course, I couldn’t resist sharing a few of my favorite looks and snapshots- kind of like a destination-inspired packing guide.

Polignano a Mare, Puglia

What’s in a day? Sunbathing on seaside cliffs; taking dips in hidden coves during the day; and enjoying aperitifs with fresh seafood in white-washed villages at sunset. In Puglia, there was so much to see and do, who had time to go back to the beach house to change? Packing for the day meant I had to keep it simple. I packed pieces that were easy to throw on but still looked elegant layered over a swimsuit – especially when I paired them with my favorite accessories and summer styles from the collection.

the burnt sienna anaise ankle tie sandals were worn with a metallic copper knit dress and accessorized with a vintage silk headscarf and a rattan carry all. the sandals were perfect because they were comfortable enough for walking around the cobblestoned town while shopping and sightseeing, but felt sleek enough for having lunch at the elegant ristorante grotto palazzese.  We enjoyed an amazing meal nestled in a cave overlooking the beautiful Adriatic sea.

Polignano is known for its coves more than its sandy beaches, but a fifteen-minute drive along the coast to San Vito took us to a little beach that was a little flatter and sandier with calmer waters.

at the end of a day in the sun and sea, a shower al fresco is my favorite way to rinse the salt from my skin.
